CARLYN ROCASELLA
CARLYN ROCASELLA has been a passionate naturalist from a young age. Her inspiration was her family, many of whom were avid anglers and hunters. Some of Carlyn’s fondest memories are attending the youth fishing and hunting camps, Junior Angler's and Coonskin (now Lake and Trails) in Ohio. It was there that she learned to fish and identify fish. These experiences sparked a deep respect for the natural world which led to her pursuing a career in the natural sciences. Carlyn holds a BS in Biology from Kent State University and has accrued over eight years of field experience as biologist. She currently lives in the area around Cuyahoga Valley National Park which has led to an interest in the Cuyahoga River watershed. Carlyn’s work is focused on surveying freshwater streams and wetlands in the Lake Erie and Ohio River Basins. She is experienced in electrofishing which has allowed her to work with lesser-known species such as darters and gar. Carlyn is dedicated to giving back to the community and looks to use her role with NFC to host outreach and education events to inspire the next generation of biologists.
